IDAHO ALPINE CLUB APRIL MEETING – GREATER YELLOWSTONE CYCLE TOUR

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2019 @ 7:00 PM
DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP, 555 WEST 25TH ST, IDAHO FALLS
Last spring, Aaron Couch and three friends embarked on an epic 11-day, 530-mile scenic bike tour of our own backyard in the Greater Yellowstone Region. Aaron planned the ride to include gravel roads as much as possible and the group camped out each night along the way.
Starting from Victor, they biked the familiar Tetonia to Ashton Rail Trail and then picked up the Warm River Rail Trail on the way to West Yellowstone. Their itinerary then carried them past Earthquake Lake to Ennis and eventually to Bozeman, the northernmost point on their loop. From there, they began working their way south to Chico Hot Springs and on to Gardiner where they entered Yellowstone Park where they did manage to find some gravel open to bikes. The final leg of their trip wound through Grand Teton Park and over Teton Pass back to home in Victor.
Aaron’s slideshow will point out that you don’t have to travel far from home to find your own cycling adventure. The meeting is open to the public and all outdoor enthusiasts are invited to attend.
